Becky Meyers (Member)
Born in Salt Lake City Utah, Rebecka Meyers (who goes by Becky) was raised around the world as an “Air Force Brat”. Her family eventually settled in the Bay Area of California where she graduated from Saratoga High in 1976. She earned undergraduate degrees at Stanford University in philosophy and biology and went on to medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR.. She decided to pursue a career as a surgeon and trained in general surgery at UCSF in San Francisco followed by fellowships in Pediatric Surgery and Liver Transplant in Philadelphia. She joined the faculty at University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 1992, and served there as a pediatric surgeon and professor of pediatric surgery for 30 years. During her time at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City she developed an expertise in pediatric surgical oncology and spent many years as a leader of international clinical trials in children’s liver cancer for the national Children’s Oncology Group, and the Children’s Hepatic tumors International Consortium. Becky retired from clinical surgery in 2022, and from surgical oncology research in 2024. She and her husband, Mike Howard, fell in love with the beauty and community of Patagonia where they moved in the fall of 2022 and have a home out on Harshaw Creek. Her husband Mike is a retired lawyer and native of Great Falls Montana where they have spent their summers for many years. As a couple they enjoy all things outdoors especially fly-fishing, camping, and hunting with their bird dog Smoke.
